Elliot Shel Silverstein has always been one of my favorite poets, on my 14th birthday my mother gave me 'Runny Babbit' and 'Where the Sidewalk Ends.' This song captures that strange feeling I would get when I read a poem of his that was both silly and a bit somber. Maybe, before I could understand it, S.S. taught me how to sit in sadness.
